About:
In The Open was founded with the intention of creating a collection of human stories that can effect social change. By filming real people, sharing their own stories in their own words, In The Open combines the ancient, timeless art of storytelling with today’s online platforms: to pass down knowledge, to start conversations, and to connect people – not only with each other, but also with the global community.
Our own story began when a group of friends was discussing their children’s innate curiosity about other peoples’ lives and experiences. They recognised that much of the content available to their kids depicted a sensationalised version of reality, favoured a certain focus, or was cut or manipulated to make a particular point. In response, they decided to create a new platform presenting real people telling real stories, without an interviewer or an agenda. In The Open offers another option to its audience: the opportunity to see and hear those stories, to draw their own insights and conclusions, and to derive meaning from the thoughts and experiences shared.
